Olde Home Day 2006

Each year, the Interlaken Community Action Group (commonly called ICAG) plans and produces Olde Home Day. Shown below are a few pictures from the 2006 events at the Interlaken Firemen's Field on Knight Street.

All of the day's events were held on the field with food, vendors, music and displays all within sight and sound of each other. Community participates included the Interlaken Historical Society, the Green Thumb Garden Club, local vendors and merchants. The afternoon continued with the yearly auction of goods and services followed by an evening musical performance by a local band.

In Honor of Those Who Serve One of the Interlaken Historical Society's summer displays was highlighted at Olde Home Day. Photographs of military family members from the 1860s to men and women who are currently serving around the world were on display.


Music for Everyone Two musical groups highlighted the morning's activities, these were Alakazam from Ithaca, and Harmony Falls from Trumansburg.


Games and Fun For All For the youngsters there was a chance to try a few "old time" games of three-legged races or bean toss. Other visitors had time to shop the booths, look at the displays and find their favorite food item at one of the vendors.




Two well known farm colors are orange and green. Shown here are two of the tractors which were part of the Olde Home Day 2006 celebration.


Parade Participants One event everyone gathers for is the Olde Home Day Parade. This year there were entries from around the county and from Tompkins county as well. Just a few of those who participated are shown below.





Hamlet of Covert Tour Visitors to the Olde Home Day Celebration were given a preview of one of the displays planned for the Historical Society's August tour of the Hamlet of Covert. Several old photographs were reproduced to show buildings which would be open for tours.


Olde Home Day is a community celebration under the direction of the Interlaken Community Action Group. All members of ICAG are volunteers and they would welcome new members who are interested in promoting the community.
